Fall Road Trip

Fall Road Trip
We are always saying to Discover More Time Outdoors™ here at Classic Accessories.
Fall can be tricky (no Halloween pun intended here) to spend some quality time enjoying some of Mother Nature’s best show-stoppers. Maybe outside can be taken a little less literally. Time to grab the keys to the car or RV and hit the road this season.

Our very own Brad Dorcik is very familiar with the East Coasts claim to fame. He states, “Growing up in Pennsylvania, gazing at shades of yellow, orange and red this time of year can be breathtaking. The vibrant colors at their peak are worth seeing if you haven’t already.”
Brad did a little bit of research for us and found, “With a favorable summer this year, the leaves were eagerly waiting to put on a show. A healthy push and pull of rainfall against warmer temperatures help maintain the leaves colors, allowing them to stay vibrant longer. However, too much of a good thing can hinder the leaves in reaching their peak colors.”

With that said, we put together a short list of some spectacular spots across the U.S. to see the leaves in all their glory as well as some camping spots in their area:

Autumn Adventures

The Road to Fall
Autumn is bringing the colors here in our beautiful Washington State after one HOT Summer and we are finally seeing dipping temperatures that are a welcomed forecast around here. It seems like we celebrate the coming of this season earlier and earlier every year. So if you’re not kicking off Fall now because you did so earlier in September, (you’re not alone) what are some fun ways to celebrate this popular season?

Road Trip!
Fall Road Trip
Some of the best sights for Fall colors come right outside your car door. Especially if you live on the East Coast. Rolling fields on fire with Autumnal (said in your best Martha Stewart voice) colors. We have excellent views here in the Pacific Northwest, but if you’re looking for show-stopping colors, best to head East.

Soups On!
Fall Soups
Nothing is more comforting than a warm cup of soup in a crisp fall day. Over at All Recipes, the most popular Butternut Squash Soup is this one with this easy to make recipe:
Ingredients:

  • 6 tablespoons chopped onion
  • 4 tablespoons margarine
  • 6 cups peeled and cubed butternut squash
  • 3 cups water
  • 4 cubes chicken bouillon
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried marjoram
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 1/8 teaspoon ground cayenne pepper
  • 2 (8 ounce) packages cream cheese
  1. In a large saucepan, saute onions in margarine until tender. Add squash, water, bouillon, marjoram, black pepper and cayenne pepper. Bring to boil; cook 20 minutes, or until squash is tender.
  2. Puree squash and cream cheese in a blender or food processor in batches until smooth. Return to saucepan, and heat through. Do not allow to boil.

One of my personal favorites is crafting with what Fall has to offer:
Leaves
On my first walk with my daughter, I picked up leaves along the way from various trees with various colors. I brought them home and pressed them in a book between sheets of waxed paper. After 3 days I took them out and dipped them in beeswax and let them dry. Well, my daughter just turned 5 and those leaves have hung in our home every Fall since in my windows. It’s a cheap way to preserve memories and a fun story to tell house guests on where the leaves came from.

Another way is to plant Chinese or Japanese Lanterns to showcase the mystical Fall plant. They grow in stages and even fade away to intricate veined cages in the Spring that shows off the plant’s red fruit. Fall Lanterns

I am always saying “Grab my camera!” Fall is one of the best times of year to get the kids outside for some fun photography. Golden light comes earlier and kids are always down for a run or jump through the fall leaves. Fall Photos

And our last favorite for planning an Autumn Adventure is to visit your local pumpkin patch!
Fall Pumpkins
The sights are many and also fleeting as the temperature gets colder so enjoy them while you can. Go “grab your camera” and get outdoors!

Enjoy the weekend.

Photoshoot at Lake Oswego

Classic Accessories Photoshoot at Lake Oswego This past June, some of our Business Development team was sent down to Lake Oswego in Oregon to do a photoshoot. I asked Dorik how that shoot went and was even able to get my hands on some candid shots of the team working to get the right angles. Here’s what Double D had to say about their trip down south:

“The team consisted of myself (Dorik or Double D), Heather, Brad, Jake and Kristian our photographer.

To back up a little bit when we were first looking for home to rent, we were tasked to look for homes where we could do multiple patio collections. Boy did we find a great home!

The plan was to shoot Madrona, Montlake and Ravenna patio collections. Why not throw Montlake cushions and Umbrellas? Sure, why not!

Started to plan what furniture props we would need to bring, product we would need to order from the warehouse and how we would transport all this stuff to Oregon. Mutiple cars maybe or a big moving van?

Idea alert!: What if we were able to rent one of those Class B RVs. Yep, you guessed it, we would be trying to do a lifestyle RV photo as well:

Trip down to Oregon was pretty easy, a cool 3 hours. House was tricky to find but we all arrived safely.

The following 3 days are what I’m truly grateful for.

Photoshoots are challenging due to sunrise, sunset, bright sun, shadows, clouds, electrical failure and hunger just to name a few.

Up at 4:45AM with the last camera shot around 9pm.

These are long days and the team never stopped making things happen. Everyone helped:

Building furniture, staging furniture, setting up a cover collection shot, steaming wrinkles from fabric, discussing where to shoot the next shot, filming new video ideas, making it rain and somehow put together food at the end of the day. (thank you Heather!)”

Road Trip!!!

One of the best things about Summer is the last minute decision to ditch the house and hit the road!

Summer Road trips are the best with long days that give way to warm winds at night. Even if you’ve planned each route, or just grabbed your keys and cooler and said “I’m outta here!”  We’d like to share 7 unique ideas from Jennifer Miller at BootnAll for your next trip down the road:
