Spring Patio Protection

Spring Protection Seems that this Spring in particular has come in like a lion for all of us.
With small bursts of blue sky between showers, it may feel a little early to be thinking about warm afternoons outdoors. It’s not too early to be thinking about protecting your patios though. With Spring Specials popping up all over the internet and at your local retailers, reminders are everywhere that Patio Season is right around the corner.

With the warming weather and unpredictable rain squalls, protection should be top of mind after your initial deep clean of your patio’s furniture and grills.

Spring Time Patios
Our friends over at The Home Depot just posted a How-To get your patio ready for Spring:

“Patio furniture provides more than just a place to eat or relax outside—it’s also an extension of your indoor decorating style. The right outdoor furniture should be comfortable and durable and add beauty to your exterior space.

Here’s how to find outdoor patio furniture that you and your family can enjoy:

•  Assess Your Space. An expansive deck can be broken up into sections. Try an outdoor sectional on one end and a picnic table on the other. Break up a large lawn with a cozy nook complete with a fire-pit and a comfy conversation set. For a small deck or patio, consider a bistro set, porch swing or rocking chair. Even the most compact outdoor space can be turned into a gathering place with small patio furniture.
• Think About Style. Continue the vibe of your indoor decor outside. A wooden patio table and chairs bring that rustic look outdoors. Add a splash of color with vibrant cushions. For a modern style, select metal outdoor lounge chairs with clean lines and neutral accents. Consider a patio set with coordinating pieces to take the guesswork out of designing the space.
• Consider Comfort. Look for patio chairs and sofas with outdoor cushions made from fade- and mildew-resistant fabric. Adirondack chairs have classic style and offer comfortable seating to admire a beautiful backyard view. Hammocks are a family favorite and provide the ultimate summer relaxation.
• Be Ready for Day and Night, Rain and Shine. A large patio umbrella will provide plenty of shade on those hot, sunny days. For areas with chilly nights, add an outdoor heater to your seating area to maximize its use.

Caring for Outdoor Furniture

Patio furniture sets made from aluminum, all-weather wicker, teak or resin are tough and easy to care for. For a rainy region, resin furniture holds up well and comes in multiple designs to match any style. Wrought iron is also low-maintenance and can withstand a hot, humid climate.

To extend the life of your outdoor furniture set, use patio furniture covers.”

The need for protection doesn’t stop at our patio furniture covers only. We also recommend any cover from our collection for your grill as well as Brad Dorcik blogged about in our Grill series of blog posts: http://blog.classicaccessories.com/rust-is-actually-a-lot-like-fire-but-with-metal/Rust on grills

Start of the Season

Classic Accessories Fish SALE!

What could be better than starting off the FIRST DAY OF SPRING? Oh yeah, and it’s also the start to one of our other favorite seasons …. Fishing!

It’s that time when Spring hits the air and some eyes are only on the water. It’s gear time and we know it all to well. A trip out to the garage to take stock in your tackle. Line, reels, waders, boat, flies … wait, you read that too right. Boat? If an inflatable pontoon boat or float tube isn’t already on your check list for this season – well the wait is over …

This season is your season! We are having a HUGE Start of the Season Sale on ALL of our Pontoon Boats and Float Tubes right now through April 15th, no code needed. (It’s the BIG  one … and that’s no tall fishing tale.)

The BIG Fish Sale!

Colorado Pontoon Boat Classic Accessories

One of the biggest benefits of having an inflatable pontoon boat or float tube is the ease of them. They don’t eat up valuable garage space in the boring off-season, they are simple to assemble either at home or water-side and they get you ON the water and away from the crowd on the shores. Each of our designs have plenty of storage on the boat and they cost a fraction of what you would spend on a fishing boat. Our pontoon boats and float tubes are one of our top sellers and top reviewed products.

Inflatableguides.com says this about our pontoon boats:
(They are) “Everything an avid fisherman would want. With all the storage capabilities, there’s no need to worry about not being able to bring all the gear with you. Even with all the gear packed, you will most likely have storage space left. The smart anchor system allows you to stay in your favorite spot without drifting away, something which we really enjoyed while we were out fishing.”

Float Tubes by Classic Accessories

From pontoon boats to the smaller float tubes, we have the right inflatable for your next fishing trip for any angler, any age, any size and any price range.

One of our favorite sites to visit is Take Me Fishing where you can search by location on where are the best places to fish, boat, get licenses, download regulations, etc. There is even a page designated to FREE fishing days!

Fishing around the USWe know opening day is already here for those lucky enough for year-round fishing. We however are counting down the days, like many of the states above, to the start of the season.

Snow Sale Forecast

If last week wasn’t enough of a blow … we are still pushing our Snow Thrower Cab and Cover Sale through March 20th with discount code: MarchSnow at checkout on clasicaccessories.com Hopefully our East Coast friends won’t need it much longer than that! The new threat comes after the second nor’easter in a week bringing another round of freezing temperatures and snowfall to the region.

1.  Deluxe Snow Thrower Cab  |  2. Snow Thrower Cab  |  3. Snow Thrower Cover

Our roomy and rugged snow thrower cabs protect against the worst weather and snow blow-back. Our Weather-X fabrics are designed to not shrink or stretch and resist both water and snow with freeze resistant SUPER clear vinyl windows.

The cabs easily install with simple hand tools (no drilling required) and come with quick-release springs that allow the cab to be easily removed for transport and/or storage.

End the snow season with our snow thrower covers that provide excellent protection against any mood mother nature is in. Heavy duty weather protected fabric provides all season protection. The fabric is coated for water resistance, repellency and mildew protection. The cover will not shrink, stretch, or crack in the cold.

For best off-season storage tips, here is what Nearsay suggests:

1. Add Fuel Stabilizer

Before filling up your blower with gas, add a fuel stabilizer. This prevents the fuel from degrading with time, keeping it fresh and clean. Without this stabilizer, the gas can degrade, allowing dirt, debris, and other contaminants to damage the engine. After adding the stabilizer, run the engine for a few minutes to ensure it circulates throughout the internal components.

2. Tighten Loose Ends

Throughout its seasonal use, some parts of the snowblower may become loose or worn. To prevent such a small issue from causing major problems, perform minor maintenance at the end of the season. Before storing the equipment, tighten any loose nuts, bolts, and fasteners. Replace worn-out parts and mechanisms, as they may corrode or degrade during the off-season.

3. Limit Exposure

Store your blower in a secure location free from exposure to the elements. Sunlight, rain, wind, and other types of weather can cause damage to your power tool. We suggest placing  a specialized cover over it, which will further prevent moisture from accumulating in the machine.

Stay warm, and stay safe friends.

What was that Phil?

Happy Groundhog’s Day!
If you haven’t heard by now, the most popular groundhog in the US has declared his forecast, on this second day of February …

groundhogday17_1

My faithful followers I clearly see,
a perfect clear shadow of me,
6 more weeks of Winter it shall be.

WINTER

That’s right – six more weeks of Winter if you believe the little guy. Although he’s been wrong before, and some folks are DONE with deep freeze this season. Some parts of the country are seeing the trees fill in with green leaves and daffodils popping up early. What do you think?

Here are some fun facts about the nation’s furry friend:

1. Yes, Punxsutawney Phil is the only true weather forecasting groundhog. The others are just imposters.

2. There has been only one Punxsutawney Phil. Punxsutawney Phil gets his longevity from drinking “groundhog punch” (a secret recipe). One sip, which is administered every summer at the Groundhog Picnic, gives him seven more years of life.

3. On February 2nd, Phil comes out of his burrow on Gobbler’s Knob, in front of thousands of faithful followers from all over the world, to predict the weather for the rest of the winter.

phil-ap-17033461810426

4. According to legend, if Punxsutawney Phil sees his shadow, there will be six more weeks of winter weather. If he does not see his shadow, there will be an early spring.

5. No, Punxsutawney Phil’s forecasts are not made in advance by the Inner Circle. After Phil emerges from his burrow on February 2nd, he speaks to the Groundhog Club President in Groundhogese. His proclamation is then translated for the world.

6. The celebration of Groundhog Day began with the Germans, Pennsylvania’s earliest settlers. They brought with them the legend of Candlemas Day, which states “For as the sun shines on Candlemas day, so far will the snow swirl in May…”. The settlers found that groundhogs were plentiful and were the most intelligent and sensible animal to carry on the legend of Candlemas Day.

7. Punxsutawney held its first Groundhog Day in the 1800’s. The first official trek to Gobbler’s Knob made on February 2nd, 1887.

8. So the story goes, Punxsutawney Phil was named after King Phillip. Prior to being called Phil, he was called Br’er Groundhog.

We are prepped and ready for 6 more weeks of Winter here at Classic. Even if that six weeks turns into two and Spring comes in like the Lion she claims to be, we’re ready. Like we always say, off season is our season, so bring it on. Guess what our forecast is for tomorrow? Freezing, with a chance of ice and snow. Thanks Phil.
